20090308 Cuzco to Lima

Fly from Cuzco back to Lima. Wait for everyone else on a delayed LAN Chile flight. Then have dinner at the Casa de Aliaga in Lima. This house has been in the family for almost 500 years, passed along from eldest son to eldest son. It is now illegal for the current owner to sell anything. Infinity pool at the top of hotel. There was a guy swimming in it at the time, and I had to be sneaky. I don't think anyone from our group got in it. We'll just pretend the water was terrible.

Just before dinner at Casa de Aliaga, I ran off and did a quick panoramic of the Santiago main square. To the left is the Presidential Palace; that's all I remember. Our "guide" for the night was extremely paranoid; I was expecting gangs and thugs with shotguns here...not families with kids. RUN TO THE BUS! Quick! They'll get you! Watch your pockets! You! With the pack on your back! THEY'LL GET IT!

Ready for dinner! Our host wished us a good meal, then respectfully disappeared. Or maybe he's done this before and didn't want to listen to a bunch of United Staters.

Post dinner, another attempt at getting a nice panoramic before the scary families with kids mugged me. A terrible stitch, but here only because of the blur on the right side -- that kid ran out in front of me, waved his arms, etc, then ran off. HA! I got you! Take that! You're in the worst photo here!

I guess it worked. The main square in Santiago. Right before we were herded back onto the bus to go to the hotel that was inconveniently far away from both the airport and the square. I'm not bitter.
